About The Event
Do you know The Book of Common Prayer? One of the study offerings during the upcoming Lenten season is an opportunity to dig deeply into The Book of Common Prayer (BCP), those books with the red covers that sit next to the hymnals in the pew racks. The discussion will be between the services starting around 9:20 a.m. and ending by 10 on Sundays, February 18th and 25th, March 10th and 17th. There will be coffee. The first session will look at the creation of the book by Thomas Cranmer in mid–16th century England, and the changes and “modernization” that have occurred in the centuries since. The second session will focus on the two different communion services; Rite 1 and Rite 2, In the third session the focus will be on the daily “offices,” Morning and Evening Prayer. The final session will be about the abundance of prayers that are found in the last part of the book. It isn’t necessary to attend all the sessions; each can stand alone. Join us as you are able!
