God is with us going out and coming in
The Lord shall watch over your going out and your coming in, from this time forth for evermore. Psalm 121: 8

Psalm 121 is part of many of the Daily Offices. There is hope and a sense of God’s presence in it that gives many people comfort. Verse 8 rose up to meet me as I read it this morning, a promise that God will be with us even as we leave home for work, for a walk; for a commitment, to be with a friend while her mother is dying….God is with us as we go out into the world, as we struggle with choices, family, friends, work and so much more. God is with us as we bring His light out into the world, sharing our joys, triumphs, and our blessings. God is with us as we come in, as we bring our burdens home, as we carry our weights AND as we share in the love and hope of home and its attendant challenges. God is with us in all things
and Psalm 121 reminds us, in its first verses, that the Lord is our strength and our light our constant companion on the road, in the home, and always. “I lift my eyes to the hills; from where is my help to come? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth” (vv. 1-2). Be comforted. The Lord is nigh.
