About The Event
Lent’s forty days begin on Ash Wednesday, March 6th. On Ash Wednesday the liturgy is simple and hauntingly beautiful. Ashes are imposed on the foreheads of those who desire them with the words “Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return.” In the remembering, we say the words of Psalm 51, begging God’s mercy, and the litany of penitence, recalling the ways we have been unfaithful to God. Then we are assured that, though we may be dust, God loves us with an everlasting love and sent Jesus to show us that we are dust worth dying for. Services on Ash Wednesday are at noon and 7 p.m. Come and worship with your parish family and leave wearing the sign of your faith out into the world. This year we will be joined at our 7 p.m. service by our neighbors from First Church, Congregational, for worship and this most holy beginning of the Lenten season. May we extend our most blessed welcome to our friends from First Church, welcoming their pastor, The Reverend Susan Gibson, as well.
